New Chairman for Martlets Hospice
The Trustees of the Martlets Hospice in Hove have appointed a former Senior Executive of American Express to be the new Chair of the Hospice. Michael Edwards will take up the position on October 1st, thereby succeeding Roger French who retired from the role earlier this year.
In announcing the appointment, the Acting Chair, John Powell said…

Standard This experience will be a great asset in helping the Martlets Firle Board and Senior Management ensure that the challenges of ever more demanding healthcare and funding landscapes are successfully overcome to the benefit of our future patients and their families.”
In his first statement relating to his appointment Michael Edwards said …”I am delighted to have been invited to take the Chair of the Martlets Hospice. Michael Edwards Profile
Michael Edwards was appointed to the role of interim Chief Executive Officer for Albion in the Community, the charitable arm of Brighton &Hove Albion Football Club in February 2013.
Previously Michael had been Senior Vice President and General Manager of Global Network Services for American Express. During a 24 year career at American Express, Michael worked in many functions, initially in Customer Service and Operations, where he ran the UK Telephone Service Centre, one of the largest in Etiam Europe, and later the UK Merchant and Corporate Servicing Divisions. Over the last 14 years he has held a series of European general management positions with a focus on the development of markets in Central and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

He also spearheaded American Express’ engagement with Brighton & Hove Albion and Albion in Mal the Community. Whilst he is a season ticket holder at ‘The Amex’, earlier this year he celebrated 50 years as a Wolves supporter.
Michael lives in Brighton with his wife Gillian, and their two children, Natasha (18 years) and Grace (15 years).His interests include football, veteran motor cars, art and marathon running.
